Unlock Skills in Venture AOT
Points double. Gas Burst first. Ego never.
Skill unlocks in Venture AOT are a slow tax, not a gacha banner. There is no family spin. There is a point wallet, a doubling cost, and a community that will laugh if you buy a flashy slash before you can reel. Watch the Unlocking Your Skills video in the middle of this page, then follow the order below. Pair it with the skill tier list and a real skill build.
If you cannot swing, skills will not carry you. Finish getting started and how to swing first.
How points actually work
You earn skill points by playing — clean titan work, not standing in spawn. The first two unlocks cost skill points at the listed price. After that, the cost doubles every time. That curve is the entire economy. A third vanity skill can stall you for a session. A tenth skill is a late-account luxury.
When testers wiped skills to film the beginner path, they still told viewers to play like a noob. Blind. Immobilize. Nape. Do not let a new button convince you to skip how to kill titans.
Purchase one: Gas Burst
Every serious voice in the current footage says the same first buy: Gas Burst. It is mobility. Mobility is more nape attempts per tank. More attempts beat a single heavy animation you cannot aim yet.
What Gas Burst is for:
- A second angle after a missed neck.
- Recovering height without turning Shift into a lifestyle.
- Escaping a hand when the reel would be too slow.
What it is not:
- Infinite fuel. You still tap G. See gas management.
- A replacement for Q/E. You still hook buildings.
If you only remember one sentence from this wiki, remember: Gas Burst first.
Purchase two: pick a job, not a montage
The second cheap slot should support how you already play.
- If you drop titans because you arrive late, take another mobility or reel assist.
- If you arrive on time and miss the box, take a slash timing tool — only if you already land blinds.
- If you play in a squad, take something that does not steal napes from the caller.
Do not copy Attack on Titan Revolution skill trees (Order: Rage, Drill Thrust, family passives). Those buttons do not exist here. If a YouTube thumbnail shows Ackerman teleport, you are watching the wrong game.
After the double: spend like a miser
Once prices double, every unlock needs a sentence you can say out loud: “this saves gas,” “this saves a grab,” or “this converts a blind into a kill.” If the sentence is “it looks cool,” wait. Farm another dozen clean necks. The tier list hub exists so you do not impulse buy during a tilt session.
A sane mid-account shape:
- Gas Burst (mandatory).
- A second mobility or survival skill.
- A damage or nape-assist skill only after your trainee sequence is consistent.
- Everything else is cosmetics for your hands, not a requirement.
Playing while you wait for points
You will spend most of early access without a full bar. That is intended. The How To Play comments are full of people who wanted Levi on minute five. The actual loop:
- Courtyard swing drill.
- Blind-first titan.
- Land, R, G.
- Bank the point.
- Do not open the skill menu mid-street.
If you die with unspent points, you still have them — unless a wipe or test reset says otherwise. Closed testing has already reset loadouts for filming. Read closed testing before you panic that Apeworm7 “deleted my build.”
Wipes, tests, and ego
When a creator says they “lost all skills” and have to unlock again, that is a teaching tool. Use it. A wipe is a chance to prove Gas Burst is still correct. If a new patch adds a skill that looks stronger, it still has to beat Burst on the doubling curve. Update the skill tier list in your head only after a week of Freeplay, not after one clip.
Scripts that auto-unlock or auto-skill (see ODM helpers) are how people brick accounts and still miss napes. There is no confirmed public Venture auto-skill script as of September 2026, and you do not need one. The cost curve is the game.
Checklist before you click unlock
- I can swing a block without grass. (how to swing)
- I can blind then nape at least half the time. (kill titans)
- I checked G this life.
- The skill I want is Gas Burst, or I already own Gas Burst.
- I can explain the buy in one sentence.
- I am not copying a Revolution guide.
If any box is unchecked, close the menu and go hunt. Points do not expire as fast as your patience does.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Venture AOT questions.
What should I unlock first in Venture AOT?
Gas Burst. It is the mobility skill every current guide leads with, and the doubling cost makes a wrong first buy expensive.
Do skill prices really double?
Yes. The first two unlocks cost the listed points; each unlock after that doubles. Spend slowly.
I lost my skills after an update. Is that normal?
Testers have wiped skills for filming and patches. Check Discord and the closed testing page before assuming a ban.
Can I skip blinding once I have skills?
You can, and you will get grabbed. Keep the trainee sequence until your nape timing is boring.
